Filling
2 cups ground beef, browned and drained
1 medium onion
salt and pepper to taste
1 Tbsp. fennel seed
1 Tbsp. oregano
5 oz. tomato paste
simmer for 20 minutes on low heat.
Make your favorite bread dough.
I use my bread maker recipe and use approx 2/3 of the dough (made from 2 cups flour).
In a greased 9x13 pan line with the dough
Put 1/2 of filling onto dough
spread with 1 cup shredded cheese
Top with rest of filling
Spread with another cup of shredded cheese
Bake uncovered for 30-40 minutes at 350-375F or until crust appears brown
remove from oven and let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
Yield 6-8 servings
