Christmas Bownies

Can't remember where I picked up this recipe. I just remember making it alot around Christmas. Have not made it in a long time but just thinking about them makes my mouth water!!! Now that I don't eat chocolate they have dropped from my repitoir but thot I would add them for you chocolate lovers out there! I do make the mashmellows as a candy. Pour into and pan and cool then cut them into squares and roll them in coconut.
Brownies
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup melted butter or margerine
1/2 tsp vanilla
4 Tbsp. cocao powder
1/2 tsp baking powder
3/4 cup flour
1/2 - 3/4 cup chopped walnuts (if desired)
mix as usual. Pour into a greased 8X8 pan.
Bake at 350F for 20 minutes or when toothpick comes out clean.
cool.
Marshmellows
2 pkgs gelatine
4 Tbsp. cold water
3/4 cup boiling water
2 tsp vanilla or any other flavoring such as peppermint or almond
2 cups sugar
disolve gelatine in cold water. Add hot water.Stir until smooth. Add flavoring and sugar.
Beat until thick (about 12-15 minutes)
add red or green food coloring as desired
pour over brownie. cool to set.
